Please be aware that the Police are seeing an increase in the number of burglaries in the Chevington/Chedburgh/Barrow area. Many of these are distraction burglaries where someone comes to the door to get your attention and his mate goes around the back of the property and takes what he can from open back doors or unlocked sheds. Please be vigilant and think about the following actions you can take to stay safe.
- Keep back doors locked
- Ask to see ID if you open the door to a stranger
- Keep valuables out of sight from windows
- Consider having gravel driveways as the noise deters burglars
- Most burglaries are opportunistic
- Have window locks added to all ground floor windows
- Keep sheds and garages locked
- Have automatic lights fitted to outside of house
- Think about CCTV equipment
